While F1 tries to go worldwide, Austria is one of a core of traditional European tracks that have established staples on the calendar.
It will be one of six new events that will host the “sprint” format this year. They use a Saturday qualifying race to determine the starting lineup for the primary grand prix.
“The race brings together the perfect mix of a challenging track, high-speed racing, and a beautiful venue.”
F1 president Stefano Domenicali said:
It has recently developed into one of a number of courses that attract a sizable number of Dutch supporters traveling abroad to cheer Max Verstappen of Red Bull.
Verstappen finished second and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes third in 2022, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc taking home a decisive triumph.
